About 160 children (mostly girls) launched "Girl's Rock Science" Day in Juneau, Alaska, which is slated to become an annual event. Supported by NDEP and sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Tongass Alaska Council, the Juneau Economic Development Council (JEDC) and Springboard, the group set up 15 hands-on demonstration booths to showcase water studies, including pH and water tension, bridge building veterinary medicine, human anatomy, ecology, wetlands, fish and wildlife, robotics and electricity.
